CMF OpenOffice Integration

The OpenOffice Integration by struktur provides a powerful integration of OpenOffice documents including images and tables with the icoya Content & Collaboration Management Systems (www.icoya.de), Plone or any other Zope/CMF powered product.

The OpenOffice product provides the following features:

  • OpenOffice documents are rendered into HTML utilizing an XSLT-processor and a configurable XSL stylesheet.
  • (optional) binary content that is included in the OpenOffice document can be published and accessed via the web like a normal document, image or file.
  • Metadata is automatically inserted into the document's Dublin Core of icoya/CMF.
  • Fast XSLT transformation using libxml2/libxslt.
  • OpenOffice documents can be edited directly by using OpenOffice. This makes it extremely easy to create and modify documents in the Web using a local OpenOffice installation.
  • A document specific cascading stylesheet (CSS) can be applied to modify an existing OpenOffice document formatting (fonts, colors, etc.).
  • Uses sx2ml XSL stylesheets which can be found at http://xml.openoffice.org/source/browse/xml/xmloff/xslt/sx2ml/.
  • The OpenOffice integration and supplementary software is freely available under open source license on the icoya portal downloads/zope_products/CMFOODocument-0_1_4.tar.gz

Using It

Using OpenOffice Documents is as easy as using text or HTML. Just add an Open Office Document type (OODocument) to a folder and upload an OpenOffice Writer document (.sxw). Immediately after uploading the document, it is instantly rendered into HTML or any other tagged format like WML or XML.

Integration

  • The CMFOODocument product is available for icoya OpenContent CMS. Have a look at: http://www.icoya.de, http://www.icoya.com, http://www.icoya.jp, http://www.struktur.de
  • The CMFOODocument product can be also added to an existing Zope CMF (Content Management Framework) instance.

Conclusion

The OpenOffice integration makes OpenOffice a valuable tool for on-line and XML publishing. In combination with the powerful search and PDF publishing capabilities of icoya Content & Collaboration Management, OpenOffice is a key component for cost effective document management and publishing applications.
